Labor Pain Relief & Acupressure - Looking at Natural Remedies
Childbirth is maybe the one of the most amazing things that will happen to a woman in her lifetime. But why does it have to hurt! The truth of the matter is, and I would guess this is the same for majority of women, labor pains do hurt. The more advanced the labor, the greater the pain. There’s nothing that we can do about it, only put our trust in medicine and hope for the best.
Maybe there is more that we can do about it. You don’t have to have medical drugs to ease the labor pain. Unfortunately I didn’t realize this until after the birth of my babies, but I wish I had!
There are natural methods of pain relief for labor. You don’t have to just rely on gas & air, pethidine and epidural. As good as these drugs are, have you looked at the side effects that they can have on you and your baby?
If pethidine is given too late during labor, then it can cause problems to your baby’s breathing, although there is an antidote that can be given, do you really want your baby subjected to so many drugs within minutes of being born? Continue Reading »

You Can Still be Sexy During Pregnancy
When I first found out I was pregnant I was so excited. I couldn’t wait for my belly to start growing. I would actually eat more just so it would poke out and maybe someone would notice I was pregnant. Then, all the sudden at about 5 months, I didn’t have to eat a lot anymore and was quickly ready for the growing to stop and the swelling to go down. I felt unattractive, and feeling unattractive didn’t look so hot! Pregnancy is beautiful; it’s a time to celebrate your body and what it can do. Here are some tips to help you feel as
sexy as you are.
Sexiness starts with confidence. It can be easy to get caught up in all the negatives about your appearance. Feeling unattractive and even ugly is something most pregnant women face at some point. These feelings usually don’t reflect the physical truth. They most likely are just results of rapid emotional and physical changes that your body is making. Don’t let them trick you. Know how beautiful your new curves are and how most men love the idea of a woman carrying a baby and find it to be one of the sexist things in the world.
Focus and accentuate the positives.
Beautiful Hair! Who doesn’t love shiny, thick hair? As your hormones kick in, they will nourish your hair, making it feel gorgeously silky and smooth! Getting a haircut is a great way to feel fresh and new. With a new hair style, you’ll want to dress cute and fix yourself up. This could be exactly what you need.
Healthy, Long Nails! Not only will they grow long, but they will be strong and healthy too. Show them off in a variety of styles and colors! Getting your nails done can be a nice reminder you are a women.
Glowing Skin! You’ve heard people talking about that pregnancy glow, and you may be waiting for yours to kick in. The increased blood flow during pregnancy will give your complexion a rosy glow! Try some shimmers and bronzers if you’re still waiting.
More Cleavage! Pregnancy often increases the size of your breasts by one or two cup sizes. WOW! Enhance that cleavage and enjoy it! Pamper yourself and do the things you normally do to make yourself feel good. Maybe even do them more.
Exercise! Many benefits come with exercise including a better body image. Even a simple walk around the block will get your heart pumping and your energy flowing.
Weight! Though you are free to eat a treat from time to time, don’t go overboard. Keeping your weight between the recommended 25 and 35 pounds will help you keep up that confidence and you’ll be proud of yourself too.
Shave! Keeping your legs smooth is a quick and easy way to feel sexier. You’ll need to feel confident enough to let your spouse give you a foot rub and hairy legs aren’t going to help any. Don’t skip them.
Eyebrows! Outgrown hairs and stubs grab people’s attention. A quick pluck can give you that fresh clean look you are looking for. For a new look, splurge and go to the salon to get them done. It is rather inexpensive and can do wonders.
Lotion! Believe me; I know from experience, it can be frustrating to cover yourself in lotion, but its well worth it. Lather up at least twice a day. Your skin will feel soft and radiant and you will be helping to prevent stretch marks too.
Dressing! Maternity clothes are usually another big issue. Be sure to buy clothes that fit. Don’t try to squeeze into your pre-pregnancy clothes that weren’t designed for your new, sexy, curvy body. Pick up a couple of pairs of jeans and skirts, and mix and match tops that will add color and style. Don’t forget one outfit to go out in. You need to feel super sexy when you go out with all the skinny people. If you don’t like the idea of spending money on clothes you’ll only wear for 6 or so months remember, many of today’s styles can be worn after baby too! Whatever you do stay away from the sweats and t-shirts, they won’t do a thing for your self-esteem.
Pregnancy is one of the most amazing journeys you’ll ever take. It’s an experience like no
other with feeling that just cannot be explained. Don’t miss out on it because your busy feeling down about yourself. Look in the mirror and see what a beautiful and sexy women you are.

Thank you in advance for reading the following article about planning your maternity wardrobe for during your pregnancy and post pregnancy. Please share your thoughts with some comments at the end.
Planning the Perfect Maternity Wardrobe for Breastfeeding
“I have nothing to wear!” Heard this before from a new mother?
After
putting in much time and effort into planning their maternity wardrobe, many new
mums suddenly discover they have nothing to wear after their baby arrives!
It
is important to plan ahead while pregnant to ensure your maternity wardrobe will
make the smooth transition from pregnancy to breastfeeding.
With a few
simple tips planning the perfect maternity and breastfeeding wardrobe is easy
and won’t break the budget either!
Start with the basics
Look at the
basics in your pre-pregnancy wardrobe and replace these with the maternity
versions. Maternity tanks tops with built-in nursing bras are fantastic and are
easy to mix and match. Black, white and a print or brighter colour are great to
start with and will go with most colors.
Tank tops will also take you
through all seasons –perfect to wear on their own in the warmer months and great
for layering in winter.
Think Dresses
Dresses in flowing
stretchy fabrics are fantastic for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. With the
right cut, dresses are very flattering on a baby bump and also great for the
post-baby figure.
Make sure you have at least one or two dresses in your
wardrobe that will take you from work, play and important functions such as your
baby’s christening or naming day! Again you can’t go past classic black for
classic style and slimming effect.
New styles of maternity dresses also
include a built-in nursing bra, which is fantastic when you have to attend a
function and breast feed your baby at the same time.
Tops to take you
everywhere
Once you have a baby you suddenly need clothing for all those
outings – mother’s group, coffee, shopping, trips to the doctor, the list goes
on… Unless you want to spend your life in baby rooms, you need tops that allow
you to breast feed discreetly in public and look good too!
Again look for
tops that allow for easy breastfeeding access and are flattering on your
changing shape. Style features such as crossover fronts and side gathering are
very good at hiding extra kilos. Many tops designed for breastfeeding are also
suitable for pregnancy.
Look for quality
As a mum of two small boys, I
know how tempting it is to go for cheap and cheerful when buying clothes.
However, often these items are here for “a good time not a long time” and won’t
last the distance.
When you think about it, your maternity and breastfeeding
wardrobe needs to last you for at least two years depending on how long you
breast feed and how many children you have. So in the long run it is better
value for money to look for quality fabrics and styles that will last the
distance.

Most of the women are confused about the average weight gain during pregnancy. Not
all women need to gain the same number of pounds. Pregnancy doesn’t mean gorging
on whatever food that comes your way thus leading to mindless addition of
pounds. This depends more on your overall health, height, and weight before
pregnancy.
Pregnancy Weight Problems
If you do not gain enough
weight during pregnancy, there may be fetal malformations. If your body does not
get enough nutrients, your baby will find it hard to get enough for its good and healthy growth. That leads
to a dependence on your reserves which might lead to deficiencies.
On the
other hand, if there is excess gain, you might increase the risk of diabetes or
labor problems. Several studies have revealed that more than average weight gain
during pregnancy paves the road to obesity in women after delivery. So, watch
those pounds sticking to your body!
Suggested Week By Week Gain
The recommendation for average increase varies from country to country.
Doctors usually suggest a 1 kg (2.2 pounds) per month. This results in a total
weight gain of 9-10 kg (18-25 pounds) during the entire pregnancy period. But,
before you start munching on food to add pounds to your body, it is best to
consult your doctor because each woman has a unique body build that determines
how much flab on her body is acceptable at this period.
Pregnancy Weight
Gain Chart
Want a simple method of determining the acceptable average
weight gain? Try this formula: divide your weight in kg by your height in meter
squares. The number that you get acts as an indicator for normal gain.
- If you get any number between 18 and 20, you are thin. About 13-17 kg
(28.6-37.4 pounds) is what you need for average mass during those nine months.
- If you get between 20 and 23, you are normal. About 12 kg (26.4 pounds) is
what you need to gain during the entire pregnancy period.
- If you get number 23, you are large. Just 8-11 kg (17.6-24.2 pounds) is
enough for a healthy pregnancy. Try to add fewer pounds if possible.
And
please do not go for the common myth of ‘eating for two’ during pregnancy. This
is not true. You only need 300 calories extra everyday during pregnancy. Follow
this rule and you will have no problems getting a healthy average weight gain during
pregnancy.
